Brownies!

A got a package today from Very Josie. So if you don't hear from me for a while, it's because I have eaten them all, turning my body into a giant, fat mass of chocolate, and have gotten stuck in Willy Wonka's pipes like Augustus Gloop.

Thank you, Josie!

If only it were for real money

In other big news of the day, I now have as many Tour de France victories as Lance Armstrong, and I'm very proud of that. Mine came without any use of banned substances.

Count the outs

Playing a tournament online just now, I had this mildly interesting situation come up:

I had Ac-Kh. He had 9d-9s. The flop was Qd-Qh-10h, and the turn was 3h.

Today's quiz: How many outs did I have on the river to win? Submit your answers in the comments. First one to get it right (must include list of the cards that win for me, or other comparable explanation of your answer) wins...my eternal, undying admiration.

Caution: It's tricky (else I wouldn't be posting it, right?).

Addendum, August 23, 2012

Here's how the hand ended:

Poker gems, #461

Norman Chad, on WSOP broadcast last night.

Lon, that hand just advanced or regressed poker 50 years.

[If you don't know the hand he's talking about, too bad--you'll have to catch a rerun of the show sometime.]

Can Deuce-Four beat quads? Is the Pope Catholic?

The above image was uploaded to Twitter by my friend @TheLuckbox, who reports that the resulting bad-beat jackpot was $60,000. Sadly, The Mighty Deuce-Four cannot lose to mere four-of-a-kind even when losing would mean a bigger payday. It just can't.
